I don’t know what to do with my hair when I work out. It has gotten long, which Brent inexplicably likes, so I have to do something to avoid that sticky back of the neck thing and the sweaty in my face thing. An Alice band keeps it out of my face but does nothing about the neck problem. Also, it tends to fall off when I lie down to do bench presses and the like.
I tried the alligator clip bun thing. Great for cardio work, great for a lot of weight work, torturous for lying down. Same deal with a regular pony tail.
French braiding works for everything but squats. The end of the braid ends up under the bar on my shoulders.
I tried putting a pony tail on the very top of my head, but too much hair fell out of it.
So, for the moment, I wear pigtails to the gym. The pigtails keep the hair off my neck and out of the way of the squat bar, while allowing me to lie down in comfort with the rubber bands off to the side of my head.
There is nothing quite like a 42 year old woman in pigtails. It is my gift of hilarity to all the other people at the gym. However, I am open to suggestions for alternatives.
