I read a book. Unfortunately, that seems to be a rare event in my life these days. It was, however, a good book. By now, everyone probably knows that I love Elizabeth George. She edited a collection of stories around two of the deadly sins, lust and greed. Two of the Deadliest is a great collection of stories. Sometimes when I read anthologies I find myself wondering how a particular story possibly ended up with the rest, but even the ones I liked less were of good quality and my lack of enthusiasm was clearly a taste issue.
What makes the book exceptional, to me, is that the first part is written by established writers and the second part showcases new writers, giving them a high-profile launching pad. That kind of generosity on the part of a Big Name impresses me. Even extraordinary talent can use a boost.
