More on Quitting

It is not often that I know I have made a good decision under difficult circumstances right away. However, the peace that came over me when I quit the writing festival was immediate.

I wrote earlier about some of the struggles I had there. Ultimately, the culture of chaos was too much for me. Limits within the festival, even when set, were not adhered to, which is fatal when working with kids. I reached my own limit and had to enforce it.

That I think it was a good decision doesn’t mean that I’m thrilled about it. I wish that I could be there for the kids. I wish that I could have found a way to a solution. I am sad.

But the peace is still there, underneath.
