Wake up...

(Tried to put a really cool picture of a penguin with cymbals waking up a polar bear, but it didn't work. Sigh...)

I feel like I’ve finally awakened from a long sleep. The world is new again, filled with possibilities, and I’m not too tired to care.

The hard part: I want to jump into everything at once! There is, of course, the ritual cleaning that happens whenever I get a chance to look around at my surroundings. I went to the fabric store today and bought stuff to make reusable sandwich and snack wraps, something I’ve been meaning to do for months that no longer sounds overwhelming (How overwhelming can it be to sew three-sided bags? Don’t ask…). I feel like riding my bike, learning a new language, reading 37 books, and cooking dinner every night. I don’t dread my alarm clock because mostly I don’t set my alarm clock anymore. I haven’t worn a watch in weeks.

I’m sure I won’t stay giddy for long. But I’m enjoying it while it lasts. And I’m sneakily trying to use the energy to put in some good and fun habits. Like not making long lists of things to do. Like going outside every day. Like playing.

Two weeks in to my month of vacation, I am several pounds lighter, close to well-rested, and relaxed. What a gift!
