One of my goals in life is to come up with semi-useful ways to procrastinate. I get all the benefits of not jumping into some complicated and important project without the terrible guilt load. Almost everything laundry related falls into this category, except when laundry has become an urgent project in and of itself, which happens approximately never because I do a lot of laundry. Unless it’s that I do a lot of procrastination. Hard to tell.

I find that I particularly need these procrastination tools on days when I get a lot done. Counterintuitive, perhaps, but true. Not only did I accomplish all the important things on my list yesterday, but in the spaces between those things I reorganized some email boxes, updated my calendar, copied passages into my commonplace book, and changed the sheets on T.R.’s bed. I sent email. I folded laundry.

There’s always more to do. I have a whole fresh new list of things to procrastinate on today, including making the list itself. I’ll get right on that after breakfast. Unless I have to empty the dishwasher first.
