Gold Lame Brain

I don’t normally watch news on television and now I remember why. This morning I saw a guy rescue a kangaroo from a rip tide. It got about as much air time as the closing of a bunch of Chrysler dealerships.

I prefer to read the newspaper. Sure, I’m a Luddite, but I read differently and more when I read the paper. I’m probably not the only one. There’s probably at least one more person out there, right?

(I’m typing this while my mom is watching the Today Show, featuring the family of the woman attacked by a chimp. Please excuse any loss of brain cells that result from this knowledge.)

(The woman’s teenage daughter is wearing gold lame pants. This is the only thing my mom has commented on about the story.)

Help. Must read something smart right away!

Sure you're reading more. Just count the number of sentences in a TV news story sometime--it's about two paragraphs, at most. Newspapers go into much more depth.

I get most of my news from public radio, which isn't as bad as TV but isn't nearly as extensive as a newspaper. Good on you for really digging into the news.
